About Erin Marchak

Erin

I'm currently finishing up my Bachelor of Arts with Honours at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. In the summer of 2009 I'll be taking my last term in England, studying International Marketing at the Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, UK.

My current goals in life are fairly simple, I want to go to a pub in Scotland, move to Toronto and get a job in Advertising.

Recent Projects

In the past year I've been doing a hodge-podge of marketing, advertising, sponsorship and design. My current gig is working as the Business Manager for Golden Words, which is a humour newspaper published weekly at Queen's University. My job should just be coordinating sponsorship and advertising from campus, local, and national organizations - but I really have my fingers in everything. I've designed print ads for national companies such as Big Rock Brewery, umph'ed up our branding through new promotional materials and created a complete advertisers package. I also keep track of receivables and try to keep to the budget that I developed with our Operations Manager.

When I'm not working at Golden Words, I'm working for the Kingston Canadian Film Festival as their Sponsorship Assistant where I coordinate the donations to our Hospitality bags that are given to visiting artists, assist in selecting films and coordinate volunteers. It's a far cry from my job at Golden Words as KingCan is practically a household name in the local and Candian Film communities.

In between these two jobs, I'm also currently doing graphic design, web design and identity branding from my home, and going to class when the opportunity presents itself.

Hobbies

I'm a sucker for fonts and graphic design, so I spend a lot of my free time sprawled out on my couch and reading things such as Swiss Miss and Brand New. I've also played classical flute since 2001 and am completely addicted to Rock Band.
